LOWELL, MA – With Jocelyn Forest and Jessica Sallinger pitching lights out, runs would come at a premium.
In the seventh inning with the score knotted at 1-1, Chicago's Jamie Clark led off the inning with a double and Laura Harms made the most of it. Harms hit a sacrifice fly to score Clark, giving the Bandits a 2-1 lead. The score held up and the Chicago Bandits defeated the New England Riptide 2-1 Friday night at Martin Softball Field in the first game of a four game National Pro Fastpitch series.
Stacy May remained hot for the Bandits and gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with a home run in the third inning.
Sallinger (9-5) and Forest (6-7) both pitched complete games for their respective teams and each allowed six hits and one walk.
The Chicago Bandits and New England Riptide will go at it again on Saturday at 4:05 central time.
