Thunder wins fourth straight game

Thunder wins fourth straight game
Osterman surrenders just one hit in win
ROSCOE, Ill. – Cat Osterman continued her hot start in the circle on Thursday night as she allowed just one hit to the USSSA Pride en route to a 2-0 win for the Thunder.
Osterman gave up a two-out single to the Pride’s Courtney Bures in the first inning and didn’t allow another hit in the game. She also struck out 14 hitters, raising her league-leading total to 60 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings pitched. In her last two starts Osterman has only allowed the single to Bures.
Rockford (8-4) scored the only one it would need in the bottom of the second inning. The Thunder loaded the bases to set the table for Megan Willis. Willis drove a ball to right centerfield allowing Jenae Leles, who walked to leadoff the inning, to come in and score on the sacrifice fly.
The Thunder added an insurance run in the third inning. Leles drove in Shanel Scott with two out to make the score 2-0. The hit for Leles was the first hit of her professional career.
The Pride (1-6) pitched three pitchers in the game with the loss going to Sarah Pauly. Pauly allowed both Thunder runs to come in and score during her 2 2/3 innings of work. She surrendered four hits in the game, but walked three in the game, all of which came in the second inning. Desiree Serrano and Kia Fennell threw the final 2 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit.
The win for the Thunder was its fourth consecutive win. During the winning streak they have outscored the opposition 12-1.
The same two teams will meet again on Friday night for game three of the five game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Rockford will send Cassidy Scoggins to the circle to start the game and she’ll most likely be opposed by Serrano.
Following the game fans can join members of the Thunder at RBI’s Bar and Grill for the postgame party. Chelsea Spencer has been chosen as the RBI’s RBI Player of the Game and if she connects for an RBI all fans will receive a free draft beer.
