KISSIMEE, Fla.- The Philadelphia Force took game three of a five game series tonight as they defeated the USSSA Pride 6-3.
The Force capitalized on miscues by the Pride in the second inning when designated player Brette Reagan reached on a walk, followed by an error that moved her to second and allowed Danielle Kinley to reach. A sac bunt by Trena Peel moved the two a base closer, followed by a single by Emily Friedman to take the 2-0 lead.
The Pride only waited one inning to get on the board when Amber Jackson homered to make the score 2-1 still in favor of the Force.
Fourth inning rallies favored both teams, but left the Force on top when the score came to 6-3.
The Force nearly went through the lineup in the fourth. Friedman reached on an error, followed by a single from Audrey LaFountain, then Clare Burnum would follow with a single to score Friedman. LaFountain would reach home on a throw to second trying to catch the stealing Burnum. Two batters later, DeDe Justice singled to move Burnum. Two errors scored Burnum and put on Reagan and Kinley, and would score Auriel Jenkins who was in running for Justice.
In the bottom of the inning, an error started the scoring for the Pride. LaDonia Hughes reached on an error by Burnum, followed by a Jessica Williams single. Kelly Kretschman then singled to score Hughes. The final run would come on a single by Caitlin Lowe plating Williams.
A lightning delay would not give enough rest for either team to score any more runs as the score plateaued at a final 6-3 in favor of the Force.
The Force and the Pride return for one more game in the five game series to USSSA Pride Park at 7:05 EST tomorrow.
