Pauley Leads Pride to Take Game Five 7-0

By:

Kissimmee, FL- After scoring only one run in their last three games the Pride’s bats came to life in game three of the series. Facing former UCF Knight Allison Kime (3-10) the Pride were able to drive her from the ball game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Pride started the second inning with Courtney Bures being hit by a pitch. UCF Grad Breanne Javier would then follow with a base hit. Kime would walk Shannon Doepking  to load the bases. LaDonia Hughes’s single would score the game’s first run. US Olympian Kelly Kretschman would then follow with a two RBI single to center field giving the Pride a 3-0 lead. Rookie Kristen Schnake would follow with a bunt RBI single on a squeeze play to give the Pride a 4-0 lead. The Thunder
then bring in US Olympian Cat Osterman who was able to end the inning. Osterman who came into the game only allowing one run on the entire season was able to get Amber Jackson to strikeout, and Oli Keohohou to ground out the end the inning.

Sarah Pauly (8-7) had another solid outing for the Pride inside the circle after picking up a win in game one of the series. Pauly worked the complete game once again allowing three hits, three walks, and striking out six.  She was able to work out of two major jams in the first inning where the Thunder left two stranded
on board, and also in the 5th inning.

For the first time this season the Pride were able score runs off Osterman. In the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs Keohohou was able to draw the walk. Bures would follow with a double to left field. Javier who finished 2 for 3 on the afternoon had a two RBI single to right. Kretschman followed in the sixth inning with her seventh home run of the season.

The Pride continue the Road to Akron for the Championship Series with their final regular season series against the Philadelphia Force next week in Allentown, Pa.
