The University of Oklahoma softball team closed out fall play Friday evening with a 2-0 loss to the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars (box score: PDF | HTML). The Sooners welcomed home former players and personnel for alumni weekend and the team didn't disappoint with an impressive showing against some of the game's best players. Starting pitcher Keilani Ricketts went 4.0 innings, striking out six and allowing just one run. Ricketts only allowed one baserunner - Lauren Lappin reached on a hit by pitch in the first. Michelle Gascoigne and Allee Allen each pitched one inning. Gascoigne gave up two hits, while A. Allen allowed one hit and walked one batter. Kirsten Allen pitched the final inning, allowing two earned runs on three hits.
Jessica Shults was the only batter to reach base for Oklahoma. Shults drew a walk in the seventh and pinch runner Cierra Hughes reached second but was left on base to end the game.
Team NPF scored both runs in the top of the seventh. A solo home run by Francesca Enea broke the scoreless tie and Megan Willis reached on a single and scored on a triple by Shanel Scott. Willis, Scott and Angeline Quiocho each had two hits.
NPF starter Cat Osterman was perfect in 5.0 innings pitched. Osterman struck out 12. Jamee Juarez picked up the save, striking out four and allowing the walk to Shults.
