THE AKRON RACERS SIGN FORMER MICHIGAN CATCHER ROYA ST.CLAIR
Free agent joins former Ohio State catcher Sam Marder behind the dish for the Racers

Akron, OH---Racers GM, Joey Arrietta wasted no time after the 2011 NPF Senior Draft one week ago to continue filling out the 2011 Akron Racers with the announcement of the newest Racer, Roya St. Clair. The 5’5” catcher from Livonia, MI, signed a free agent contract to join former Buckeye catcher, Sam Marder on the Racers 2011 roster. Both players will be playing their first season in the NPF this summer. Marder was the first selection in the 2010 Senior Draft by the Racers but sat out this past summer recovering from a nagging shoulder injury.

St. Clair finished her four-year career under legendary coach and NFCA Hall of Fame inductee, Carol Hutchins, starting 208 of 224 games while posting a .251 career batting average. The 2009 All-Big Ten First-Team selection was a defensive specialist registering only 9 errors in 1803 chances for an astonishing .995 fielding percentage. “This is a defensive game,” remarked Arrietta. “Passed balls and throwing errors can, and do, loose games. I am confident that we have a pair of defensive catchers that can also handle our diverse pitching staff.”
