NICOLE TRIMBOLI RETURNS TO THE RACERS
Eight-year NPF Veteran “returns home”
Akron, OH—The Akron Racers continue to restack the line-up with a solid mix of veterans and young talent with the signing of free agent, Nicole Trimboli. Racers GM Joey Arrietta made it official today that indeed the eight-year NPF veteran would return to where it all got started in Akron, in 2004.
Trimboli was acquired with the second selection in the 2004 NPF Supplemental Draft. She was a member of the 2005 NPF Championship Racers squad that defeated the Chicago Bandits in a thriller, 5-4, in Lisle, IL. Nicole left Akron to join the Chicago Bandits organization where she picked up her second championship ring in 2008 as well as the MVP award in the NPF Championship Series. This past year, she earned her third ring as a member of the USSSA Pride becoming the most decorated player in NPF history.
“I'm excited to come back and play for the Akron Racers for so many reasons,” commented Trimboli.
“The organization has been the longest standing in the league and it's where I got my start as a professional athlete. Joey Arrietta gave me the opportunity to continue playing ball 8 years ago, and it's been an incredible experience and an honor to play in such a competitive league this long.”
“As a veteran, I'm excited to help lead our organization through a successful season. We'll have a lot of new talent and fire on our team this year and both are vital in creating a great team. The fans have always been so wonderful in Akron, which makes it exciting to play at Firestone Stadium. Feels like I'm coming home.”
“I am thrilled to have Nicole return to Akron. Her versatility as well as her veteran leadership will be pivotal to the success of the 2011 Racers,” remarked Arrietta.
Trimboli is currently the head coach at the Regis University, in Denver, CO. Her assistant is four-year Racers alum, Kristin Johnson. Nicole will travel to Akron immediately following the end of the 2011 Rangers season to begin play for the Racers.
