ROSEMONT, Ill. - On First Responder’s Night, a celebration of all those who serve our country including police, firefighter, military, the Bandits were the ones responding first coming out with their bats swinging.

In a pitching match-up that saw Jamee Juarez entering the circle against the Diamonds Morgan Melloh, Juarez retired the first three batters she faced. In the bottom of the first, with Rachel Folden on first after being walked by Melloh, Alisa Goler blasted a towering home run to center field, opening the game up with a 2-0 Bandits lead.
With a scoreless second inning in the books, Angeline Quiocho came up to the plate for the Diamonds. With a solo home run, she put the Diamonds on the board and cut the Bandits lead in half, 2-1.
In the fourth inning, Juarez helped give the Bandits a little more breathing room. After a Nikki Nemitz walk, Juarez hit the ball out of the park giving the Bandits the 4-1 lead.
With the Diamonds unable to respond in the top of the fifth, Megan Wiggins blasted the third Bandits home run of the game, scoring Danielle Zymkowitz to give the Bandits a 6-1 lead.
A pitching change in the sixth inning brought Nikki Nemitz to the circle, and the Diamonds bats began to find some life. With GiOnna DiSalvatore on first, Biana Mejia hit the second Diamonds home run of the night to cut the Bandits lead in half once again, 6-3. But the Diamonds weren’t finished yet. After Megan Gibson advanced to first after being hit by a pitch, Jami Lobpries came in to pinch run. She would later score on a Bandits error to make the game 6-4. A Quiocho fly ball to Bandits left fielder, Amanda Williams ended the half inning.
In the bottom of the inning, Danielle Zymkowitz hit a triple into the left field gap scoring Juarez and Christine Knauer to make the game 8-4. With Wiggins up to bat, she hit her second home run of the night, scoring Zymkowtiz and giving the Bandits a 10-4 lead.
Nemitz retired the final three hitters in the top of the seventh to give the Bandits their ninth win of the season.

Bandits return to action again the Diamonds on July 2 at 7:30pm CT.
