Pride Sweep Double Header

Viera, FL-A pitchers duel between Pride’s Cat Osterman and Diamonds Morgan Melloh was the highlight during game number one.  Osterman struck out nine, giving up one one hit.  Melloh struck out four, giving up seven hits.  Pride scored three runs in the sixth inning becoming the eventual game winner, 3-0.

Cat Osterman threw a no-hitter going into the top of the fifth inning until Diamonds Jami Lobpries singled.  This would be the only hit of the game for the Diamonds.

Morgan Melloh scattered seven hits through the night to the Pride.  However, during the sixth inning is when the Pride was able to put the hits together to score the games three runs.   Jessica Mendoza started off the bottom of the sixth with a single.  Ashley Charters walks to put runners on first and second.  Francesca Enea RBI singled to score Mendoza and advance Charters to third.   Samantha Findlay RBI singled to score Charters putting the Pride up 2-0.  Tonya Callahan walks putting runners on first and second with the speedy Andrea Duran coming into pinch run for Findlay.  The final run of the night came on a single from Natasha Watley to score Duran.

In game two, Pride got game started right away by scoring two runs in bottom of the 1st inning.  Natasha Watley starts off the Pride’s offense with a single and would eventually be caught stealing.  Jessica Mendoza hits a home run to score the first run of the game.  Charlotte Morgan singles and then advances on a passed ball to second.  Kelly Kretschman will then walk on four straight balls.  Kelsey Bruder then walks to load the bases.  Andrea Duran has a bases loaded walk scoring Morgan.  Diamonds finally get out of the inning with a Melissa Roth fly out to left field.

The Diamonds would fight right back in the top of the second by score two runs.  Brianna Hesson leads off with a single.  Lobpries hits into a fielders choice with Hesson being called out at second.  With two outs, Angeline Quiocho, hits a two run homerun to tie up the ball game.

The game would remain tied through the top of the third when the Diamonds score their last run of the game.  Bianca Mejia singles.  GiOnna DiSalvatore advances to first on an error scoring Mejia to put the Diamonds up 3-2.

The lead would not last long as the Pride scores four more runs in the bottom of the third.  Watley has a bases loaded single to score Kretschman who led off with a single.  Bruder then scores on a wild pitch who got on base by a four pitch walk.  Ashley Charters singles to score Salling, who also walked to get on base, and Watley.

The Pride continued their scoring threat by scoring every inning for the remainder of the game.  The Pride scored only one run in the bottom of the fourth. One of Watley’s three RBI’s of the night came on a single scoring Melissa Roth.  In the bottom of the fifth, the Pride scores two more runs to put them up 9-3.  =The Pride continued to score three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to finish the scoring damage at 12-3.
