Goler's Two Home Runs Lead Chicago Past NPF

Box Score

Lexington, North Caroliona-
The Chicago Bandits broke up a scoreless game with a five-run fourth and never looked back, cruising to a 10-1 victory over the NPF Diamonds on Thursday night. First baseman Alisa Goler hit two home runs in the contest and the Bandits churned out 14 hits as they won their third in a row over the Diamonds.

Starters Monica Abbott and Rhiannon Kliesing breezed through the first three innings before Goler took Kliesing deep for the game’s first run. Goler belted her ninth home of the season on a 2-0 pitch to get the Bandits offense rolling. Right fielder Alexis Jager made it 2-0 with an RBI-double, then Chicago took advantage of a throwing error and a passed ball to score three more runs.

The NPF got one back in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a Bandits miscue and an RBI-single off the bat of right fielder Brianna Hesson.

Goler added her second long ball of the game with a solo shot in the fifth to make it 6-1.

The Bandits offense fired up again in the seventh, roughing up NPF reliever Danielle Spaulding for four more runs thanks in large part to pinch-hitter Dorian Shaw. Shaw smashed a two-run homer, her second of the year, to give Chicago the nine-run lead.

Abbott retired the Diamonds in order in the bottom of the seventh, striking out the final two batters to seal the victory.
