Battle of the Bats Final Players Announced

Four rookies, three veterans to square off in Battle of the Bats

Sulphur, La. -- The season-long home run derby featuring National Pro Fastpitch players from each team comes to a close Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. as Chicago Bandits rookies Dorian Shaw, Alisa Goler, Megan Wiggins, Florida Pride members Jessica Mendoza, Charlotte Morgan and Samantha Findlay and Akron Racers rookie Hoku Nohara step up to the plate one last time to see which bat will be crowned champion in the 2011 NPF Battle of the Bats.

The 2011 NPF Battle of the Bats will be streamed live, online, at www.profastpitch.com/schedule/streamA. First pitch for BOB is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CST.

Shaw, Nohara and Morgan will be swinging for Miken with 15, 14 and 11 home runs respectively on the season so far in Battle of Bats competition. Shaw and Nohara are both rookies in the NPF and hail from the University of Michigan (Shaw) and New Mexico State (Nohara).

In live play this season, Shaw has two home runs and Nohara one. Charlotte Morgan has cranked five home runs this season while splitting time at first base with teammate Samantha Findlay.

Bandits’ rookie infielder Alisa Goler and Florida Pride left fielder Jessica Mendoza are swinging bats for Louisville Slugger. Goler, the league leader in home runs with 11 in the regular season, has launched 12 home runs in the Battle of the Bats competition. Mendoza has blasted 11 home runs during the competition and 10 during the 2011 regular season.

Rookie Megan Wiggins (Chicago) is the lone swinger for Easton bats. She has 11 so far during the competition and eight during regular season play.

Rounding out the competition is USSSA Pride first baseman Samantha Findlay with 10 home runs while swinging for Wilson. Findlay has just one home run on the season.

Charlotte Morgan came away the winner in the 2010 Battle of the Bats, hitting two home runs in the final round and taking home the $500 cash prize. Morgan out slugged now teammate Samantha Findlay to win the title.
