Errors Prove Costly for Force against Akron

By:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A total of three errors proved to be the downfall for the Force as the Akron Racers cruised to a 7-0 victory Friday evening at ECTB Stadium in front of 308 fans.

Of the seven runs scored only four were earned in Friday’s night loss, as the Force fell to 3-14 on the season. The Racers who are 3-0 in the series against Philly improved to 10-7 overall.

In total only two Force players were able to connect at the plate. Akron produced a total of 10 hits on the day which included a pair of home runs, and a 4-for-4 showing from Crystl Bustos. Bustos also had one RBI and scored a pair of runs on Friday night. Lisa Modglin and Sari-Jane Jenkins both went 2-for-4 as well.

Starting in the circle for the Force was Jessica Sallinger who pitched a solid game through the first four innings. Even though she surrendered six hits and seven runs, Sallinger managed a total of four strikeouts. Samantha Yodowitz closed out the game for Philly and totaled three strikeouts of her own.

Brittany Weil paced the Racers through all seven innings allowing just two hits and fanning a total of seven batters.

Akron got off to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two run four base error. They then added to their lead in third with two more runs to go up 4-0. The Racers sealed their third straight victory of the week in the fifth with three more runs, all of which were scored on back-to-back homeruns.

The Force will look to pick up their first win of the series tomorrow evening at 7:35 p.m. EST at ECTB Stadium. Tomorrow’s game can be viewed online at http://www.philadelphiaforce.com/live.
