ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Looking to close out the five game series with a much needed win the Force faced off against the Racers Sunday afternoon at ECTB Stadium. Unfortunately, the Force who was without seven regular starters fell to Akron by the final score of 8-0 in front of 535 fans and spectators.

With Sunday’s loss the Force’s record fell to 3-16 on the year, while the Racers improved their record to 13-7.

Despite dropping the previous four games, the Force was high spirited as they took the field. They knew that their season was far from over, and that were going to do everything they could to get back on the winning track.

The afternoon started off in favor of Philly as they held the Racers scoreless through the first two innings for the first time in the series. On top of that, the Force managed to connect at the plate, and put runners in scoring position.

Recording hits for Philly in the series finale were Emily Friedman, Lillian Hammond, and Tory Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi led her team with her first career double in the bottom of the third.

For the Racers, Jackie Pasquerella had an amazing afternoon going 4-for-5 with two RBI’s and three runs scored. She was joined by slugger Crystl Bustos who went 3-for-4 and four other players who recorded multiple hits.

In the circle Jessica Sallinger had a long and busy afternoon tossing more than 130 pitches in six innings of action. Of the six runs surrendered by Sallinger only four were earned. She also managed to total four strikeouts as well. Margo Pruis replaced Sallinger in the seventh and recorded a pair of strikeouts of her own.

Akron’s Lisa Norris picked up her third win of the year on a seven inning outing in which she totaled seven strikeouts and only two walks.

On the scoreboard, Akron did not break the scoreless draw until the top of the third scoring just one run. They then made it a 4-0 game in the top of the fourth. The Racers added two more runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the win.

The Force will return to action on Wednesday when they face the Rockford Thunder in game one of the five game series. The first pitch of the series is scheduled to be thrown at 7:05 p.m. EST.
