Bandits win with a Walk-Off

By:

Elgin, Ill. – The Chicago Bandits pulled off a thrilling win in game two of a five-game series against the Tennessee Diamonds by a score of 10-8, after a walk-off two-run homerun by Bandits first baseman, Samantha Findlay in the bottom of the seventh.

The Diamonds, who are coming off a tough loss yesterday to the Bandits, committed five errors allowing the Chicago Bandits to hang tough in this high scoring affair.

The Bandits win, which puts them at 7-7 for the 2010 campaign, came as a complete team effort on the offensive side. Led by Samantha Findlay who recorded three RBI’s the Bandits had six hitters who recorded an RBI.

Two errors in the first inning by the Diamonds allowed the Bandits to put four across the plate early, but the lead was short-lived as the Diamonds answered in the second with five runs, led by a Loryn Johnson two-run homerun.

The Bandits responded in the second as Samantha Findlay doubled to score Stacy May, who singled earlier in the inning.

Nikki Nemitz put on a show coming out of the bullpen for the Bandits with six innings of work, including five strikeouts.

In the end, it came down once again to Samantha Findlay in the seventh. After a Rachel Folden single to lead off the inning, Findlay stepped up to the plate and drove the second pitch she saw clear over the center field fence to end the game in walk-off fashion.

The Bandits look to continue their two-game winning streak in a double-header against the Diamonds Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. at Judson University.

Fireworks will take place after the 7:05 p.m. game for those in attendance.
