Give a Glove

By:
ELGIN-The Bandits are holding a glove drive to support the Give-A-Glove program run by the Bandits very own Emily Friedman.

“I want to figure out what organizations around the world and in the U.S. are in need of equipment because I feel that if a kid has a glove he can learn the game,” said Friedman.

Bandits fans can donate a glove, old or new, big or small, at the Friday, August 20 game against the Tennessee Diamonds.

Donations will be packaged and shipped overseas to youth teams that are in need of equipment.

“I already have recipients lined up to receive gloves in Honduras,” said Friedman, “ My goal is to collect 3,100 new and used gloves.”

Everyone that donates a glove will have the opportunity to meet Emily and take a group photo with her after the game.

For more information about how to support the Give-A-Glove program, visit the Gloveworks facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/Gloveworks/135846693111405. Friedman has added photos of her previous trips to Honduras with kids who will benefit from the donations on the facebook page as well.

There will be opportunities for fans attending the 2010 Championship Series to give glove donations as well. Fans who attend the series can also purchase a Give-A-Glove t-shirt that will help cover the shipping and handling costs overseas.

The Championship Series will be held in Sulfur, LA August 25 through 29.

Friday’s game is also the Bandits Pack-the-Park night.
