National Pro Fastpitch, Gloveworks, and Emily Friedman are holding a glove drive during the NPF Championship Series.  The purpose of this glove drive is to provide kids of all ages around the US and the World with the opportunity to play baseball and/or softball by providing them with the most basic equipment necessary to learn the game. 

The Drive behind the Drive
Emily Friedman took a trip to Honduras in 2007.  Her friend in the Peace Corps wanted to start a youth baseball team, but was unable due to the lack of equipment.  She was already a part of the NPF family as she was a member of the Philadelphia Force.  With the help of donors, her friend was able to collect 60 gloves and 10 dozen balls along with some other equipment for the “Singuatepeque Pine Trees.”  They were also able to supply some equipment to some other Peace Corps little league teams in Honduras.  “The kids were so excited and grateful to have their own gloves and it was a truly humbling experience,” said Friedman.

Donation Information
The Give-A-Glove goal is to collect 3100 new and used gloves that will be packaged and shipped to underprivileged youth baseball and softball programs.  Glove donations will also be collected at the 2010 Championship series in Sulphur, LA.  Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and will go directly to covering shipping & handing costs!  Checks may be written out to “Gloveworks.”  Many thanks to all the NPF players who have pledged to donate their gloves following the 2010 season!
