ELGIN, Illinois - The Tennessee Diamond jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never trailed, defeating the Chicago Bandits 4-2 Friday night at Bandits Stadium at Judson University.

Leading 1-0, The Diamonds (14-31) hit back-to-back solo home runs in the third inning. Center fielder Amanda Williams launched the first one to left center field, Three pitches later Chelsea Spencer hit the ball over the right field wall, giving Tennessee a 3-0 lead.

Both Spencer and Williams got the Diamonds on the board early. In the first inning, Spencer hit an RBI single to left center field, bringing home Williams.

The Diamonds added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning. Shanna Diller hit a single down the first base line, scoring second baseman Loryn Johnson. Tennessee went up 4-0.

It wasn’t until the sixth inning that the Bandits got on the scoreboard. Stacy May hit a double in the right field gap that brought home Christine Knauer. Knauer was pinch running for Nicole Pauly, who got on base with a double.  Amber Patton and Rachel Folden both reached base on errors. Rachel Mitchell scored on the Folden error. But the Bandits couldn’t get any closer, stranding two runners, and the score remained 4-2.

Chicago had a chance in the bottom of the seventh inning. Trailing 4-2, Vicky Galindo got on base on an error, but the Bandits couldn’t advance her or get any closer on the scoreboard.

Kristina Thorson (9-5) started for Chicago. She lasted 2.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs with on strikeout. Starter Kristin Erb (3-7) got the win for Tennessee, giving up three hits and one earned run.
