Bandits head to Bourbonnais Clinic and Tournament

Chicago Bandits Professional Softball Team and the Bourbonnais Township Park District team up for clinic and softball tournament at Diamond Point Park.

The Chicago Bandits announced today a partnership with the Bourbonnais Township Park District; this will bring the Bandits to the area to hold two clinics in June and an inaugural 4th of July tournament.

“We are so pleased to be working with the Chicago Bandits,” said BTPD Executive Director, Hollice Clark. “This is a great opportunity to advance the game of softball in Kankakee County at Diamond Point Park.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Bourbonnais Township Park District to provide an instructional clinic and softball tournament to this area.  This will help boost awareness of the professional softball league.” said Bandits General Manager, Aaron M. Moore.  “Chris Hendrickson, from our office, has worked hard to create relationships south of Chicago and this is definitely one we would like to see bloom into a huge success year after year.”

There will be two instructional softball clinics on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Diamond Point Park located at 6279 N 1000 W Road in Bourbonnais. The first clinic will be for 8-12 year olds and will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. The second clinic session will be for 13-18 year olds and will start at 1:30 p.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. A tentative “rain date” is set for Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in case of inclement weather.

Each session will feature professional instruction from Chicago Bandits players and coaches.  They will cover hitting fundamentals and drills, fielding fundamentals, team defense, pitching, speed and agility drills.   Registrations will be accepted at any Bourbonnais Township facility for a fee of $65.00.  You may register before May 20, 2011 for a fee of $65.00.  After May 20th, registrations will be accepted for a fee of $80.00.  All registrations are non-refundable.  Registrations will be accepted on the day of the tournament for $80.00 but we encourage early registration.  Each participant will receive a Chicago Bandits t-shirt.

The open invitation tournaments will be held from Saturday, July 2, 2011 through Monday, July 4, 2011 with the Championship games ending before 1:30 on Monday.  All games will be played at Diamond Point Park in Bourbonnais. The tournament is open for 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U teams.  Entry fee into the tournament is $400.

Each tournament game will feature two umpires and have a 1:15 time limit. Every team in the tournament will receive an official tournament t-shirt for everyone on the team and 12 tickets to a future Chicago Bandits game. The winner of each tournament will also receive a berth to the USSSA World Series in Orlando, Fla.
