ROSEMONT, Ill. -- It was a wild one at Rosemont Stadium in the first and only day game on the season for the Bandits. Akron came out on top by a final of 6-2, but not before a pair of comebacks and an unusual tenth inning.

Akron grabbed the game’s first lead in the second inning after a Sam Marder single. Lisa Modglin pinch ran and stole second and was driven in by Megan Bush to go up 1-0.

With Morgan Childers in the circle the Bandits bats were cooled off until the bottom of the seventh. Jamee Juarez walked and advanced to second on a Shannon Doepking sacrifice bunt. With one out, Megan Wiggins doubled to center and plated Juarez to tie the game 1-1.

Starting in the tenth, with the International Tie Breaker in effect, the unusual began. Akron scored in the top half to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Patton would start at second for Chicago and move to third on a wild pitch that walked Alisa Goler.

Vicky Galindo pinch ran for Goler and stole second, putting runners on second and third. Nikki Nemitz bounced into a fielder’s choice that got Patton out at home.

Bandits head coach Darrick Brown attempted to sub in Robin Thompson, who could not be subbed in because she was the flex player. This brought argument from both teams and Nemitz remained at first base. Caitlin Lever would fly out to center and score Galindo to tie the game 2-2.

Things fell apart for Chicago in the 11th. Leadoff hitter Taylor Schlopy grounded out to first but was ruled safe because Juarez was not re-entered in the game, putting runners on first and third. Akron would go on to score four in the inning and seal the 6-2 victory.

NEXT BANDITS GAME: 7:35 p.m., Saturday, July 9 vs Akron Racers
