Pride 6, Diamonds 5
Box Score

Calgary, Canada--
The USSSA Pride earned a 6-5 victory over the NPF Diamonds in a seesaw affair on Tuesday night at Foothills Stadium.

The Diamonds sandwiched a pair of runs around NPF's two-run second, knotting the teams at 2-2 heading into the third. Diamonds' shortstop Biannca Mejia led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot to make it 1-0 and left fielder Jami Lobpries crossed the plate on an error in the second to tie the game. The Pride capitalized on two miscues and Natasha Watley’s sac fly to score a pair of runs in the second.

NPF regained the lead in the third thanks to first baseman Brianna Hesson’s RBI-single, but the Pride surged back with a three-run fourth to take a 5-3 lead. With the bases loaded, NPF starter Morgan Melloh hit left fielder Jessica Mendoza for the first run of the frame. Right fielder Francesca Enea then delivered a two-out base-knock that plated two runs to put the Pride ahead.

First baseman Charlotte Morgan added the eventual game-winning RBI with a single in the sixth, driving home second baseman Ashley Charters after she walked on four straight balls to lead off the inning.

The Diamonds refused to go quietly, rallying in the sixth with a pair of runs. Lobpries’ two-out single kept the inning alive for center fielder Jessica Bachkora, and Bachkora took advantage with her second home run of the season to cut the deficit to one.

Jordan Taylor ended any threat of a seventh-inning comeback, retiring the Diamonds in order to pick up the save.

Pride starter Cat Osterman picked up the victory after allowing three runs, two of them earned, on just two hits with 10 strikeouts through five innings. Melloh took the loss, giving up six runs, four of them earned on seven hits with seven costly walks through 5.2 innings.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow night at Foothills Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm (MDT). For more information on the NPF Diamonds visit diamondsnpf.com.
