ROSEMONT, Ill. – July 25, 2013
- Andi Williamson earned her sixth victory of the season in the prevailing 12-3 win against the Comets and continues to hold the best record of rookie pitchers in the 2013 season.

The Comets began the game with three quick outs, but the Bandits threatened with a leadoff walk from Megan Wiggins, who advanced from second on a sac bunt from Amber Patton.  Alisa Goler was intentionally walked, but two straight long fly outs left the pair stranded, sending the game into the second inning tied at 0-0.

Wiggins came up big in the second inning for the Bandits with a three-run home run, bringing home Kimi Pohlman and Eri Yamada who both reached on singles.  The homer gave the Bandits the lead at 3-0.

The Comets answered in the top of the third with two runs of their own, making the score 3-2.  Courtney Liddle reached first on a one-out walk, followed by singles from Amanda Kamekona, Bianca Mejia, and Brittany McKinney.  Kamekona scored on a close call at home, first being called out but after the ball fell out of the glove of catcher Kristen Butler she was called safe.  The Bandits were able to escape the inning after an excellent defensive play from shortstop Tammy Williams to keep the Comets to two runs.

The Bandits earned those runs back and then some in the bottom of the inning. Butler started off the inning with a double and gave the lineup a chance to bat. Nerissa Myers, Eri Yamada, and Vicky Galindo all cracked RBI hits before Lindsey Richardson came into the game for the Comets to relieve starter Olivia Galati.  At the end of the inning, the Bandits led 7-2 going into the fourth inning.

The Bandits tacked on three more runs for Andi Willamson in the bottom of the fifth.  Galindo and Wiggins earned their second hits of the game and scored on an RBI-double by Goler.  Taryne Mowatt came into finish the game for the Comets but gave up an RBI double to Williams before finishing the inning.  The Bandits led 10-2.

The Comets were able to score one run in the top of the sixth after a double by Kelsi Weseman who later scored on an error.

The Bandits earned two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Yamada hit a triple and scored on a single by Nikki Nemitz.  A double by Danielle Zymkowitz brought in Mel Dumezich, who reached on a fielder’s choice.  The Bandits would take their commanding 12-3 lead into the seventh inning for the win.

Williamson punched out six Comets in her winning performance tonight.

The Bandits and Comets face off again in game three of the series tomorrow at the Ballpark at Rosemont. First pitch is set for 7:35 pm.
