Akron, OH  - February 3, 2014
- Akron Racers GM, Joey Arrietta announced today that University of Texas four-letter winner and All-Big 12 selection, Nadia Taylor has signed a free agent contract to play for the Racers in 2014. Taylor dazzled Arrietta and Coaches Brian Levin and Dustin Combs with her versatility, competiveness and all-around athletic ability at the free agent tryout in Tucson, AZ.

“We went to Tucson to find a special player who not only demonstrated superior skills but had all the intangibles that make a solid team player,” commented Arrietta. “We found that in Nadia Taylor. We are building a special team and it was important to find a player that can help us at a number of positions.”

Taylor, a native of the New Orleans, LA, became a fixture in the Texas lineup registering 234 starts primarily at third base. During Texas’ run to the 2012 NCAA Super Regional, Taylor recorded a.355 batting average with 16 double and 11 homeruns. She tied an NCAA record by hitting three doubles in a single game against New Mexico.

Taylor’s career accolades included being named a three-time NFCA All-Central Region honoree and a two-time All-Big 12 selection. Academically and athletically, Taylor was among the Big 12’s most decorated players during her career at Texas.

“First, and foremost I want to thank Joey Arrietta and the Akron Racers for the wonderful opportunity to continue my softball career,” commented Taylor. “I’m very thrilled and blessed to embark on my professional career with the Akron Racers and I would advise all youth softball players aspiring to follow in the same footsteps to follow their dreams."
