ROSEMONT, Ill. – August 14, 2014 - A wild pitch and throwing error by the Akron Racers, allowed the game winning run to cross home for the Chicago Bandits as they took game two of the series, 2-1.

Monica Abbott got the call in the circle for the Bandits, her fourth appearance in six days, while Rachele Fico entered the circle for the Racers.

It was the Racers who got on the board first tonight, off a Charlotte Morgan RBI single in the third inning, also their first run of the series.

The Bandits responded back in the bottom of the inning. With Megan Wiggins and Amber Patton on base, Tammy Williams singled to score Patton and tie things up at one a piece.

An Emily Allard single in the first, put her on base. Stealing second, to put a runner in scoring position, a Racers wild pitch allowed her to advance to third while a Racers throwing error allowed her to cross home plate for the game winning run.

Monica Abbott shut down the Racers in their final half inning, recording 10 strikeouts in her seven innings pitched. She allowed just one run on five hits for her 10th win of the season.

In her six innings pitched, Fico allowed just one earned run on eight hits, while walking four.

The teams return to action on Saturday, August 16 with first pitch scheduled for 7:35 p.m. CT.

Tickets are still available for the game, as the Bandits will celebrate Cancer Awareness Night with special lavender jerseys which will be available via a blind silent auction throughout the game. Visit www.chicagobandits.com or call 877-722-6348 to purchase tickets.
