Arizona Falls in First Game of Doubleheader to NautsNY/NJ Pitcher Amanda Scott Throws Complete Game Shutout

TUCSON, Ariz. – The NY/NJ Juggernaut took game one of Tuesday night’s doubleheader by a final score of 1-0, in what turned out to be a pitcher’s dual at Hi Corbett Field.

Amanda Scott took to the mound for the Juggernaut and opposed Tarrah Beyster for the Heat. Each pitcher was on their game the entire night, as there was only one run surrendered in the game and that was by Beyster.

Scott finished the night allowing five hits and three walks, while striking out four in the contest. Tonight’s game marked the second consecutive shutout for Scott. She defeated the California Sunbirds on a one-hitter on Saturday night in Stockton, Calif.

Arizona’s Beyster was equally effective on the night, allowing only a first inning run to the powerful lineup for NY/NJ. Beyster allowed four hits, walked two and struck out three in the contest, but took the loss and dropped her season record to 2-14, while Scott improved to 15-7 on the season.

The Juggernaut got on the board in the first inning with the help of only one hit. Carri Leto drew a one-out walk, which was followed by a lined single to left field by Juggernaut shortstop Lyndsey Klein. Leto then stole third and came around to score on a wild pitch by Beyster.

Tomorrow night’s game with the Juggernaut marks the conclusion to the 2004 season for the Arizona Heat. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. PDT and it will be fan appreciation night at the ballpark. Every fan entering the gate will receive a raffle ticket upon entering the stadium for a chance to win prizes, including autographed Heat memorabilia.

For additional information on the Heat or to purchase tickets, please contact the team directly at 520-296-9595 or visit them on the web at www.tucsonsoftball.com. Tickets for all Arizona home games range from $3-11 and are available for purchase on the day of the game at the Heat Ticket Office.

The Arizona Heat is a first-year franchise that plays their home games at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson. The regular season began on June 1 and will end on August 18th when the Heat will host the Juggernaut in a doubleheader beginning at 7:05 p.m. PDT.
