BAY EARNS SECOND WIN AGAINST CANADA

Lisle, Il.-- Chicago Bandits Lauren Bay finished off what she started in the sixth inning of Thursday night's game on Friday, giving herself another win against the Canadian Elite Team. As Bay gave up four hits, she struck out six batters from her own country.

Canadian second baseman Tiffany Patterson started things off just right for the game earning the first hit. Although Laura Shurr's fielder's choice removed Patterson from the bases, Shurr made it to second on Melanie Matthews walk, to put runners on first and second with only one out.

As it was the very beginning of the game, the Bandits were sure to prevent any damage when Canada's Cindy Eadie hit a ground ball to Gina Oaks. Oaks fielded the ball and instantly tagged third followed by a throw to first to claim the double play.

After Canada made the Bandits work hard in the field in the first inning, the Bandits made sure to take control of the scoreboard.

Player of the Game, Anne Steffan, led off with a drive right up the middle. Despite being the only Bandit to make it to a bag, she executed and made her way around to home to put the Bandits on the board, 1-0.

The first two Bandit batters of the second inning, Selena Collins and Christina Enea, took the initiative to continue the base hits by producing a single each to the grass.. The streak ended after Enea as Canadian pitcher Ashley Lanz struck out the next three batters.

The third inning provided some hope to Canada by having three runners safely reach second base. Daina Christoforow and Amanda Howard came up with back-to-back singles, and Patterson got on base by a fielder's choice. Although Canada had runners in position, they were unable to make it to home.

Canada put up their defense in the bottom of the third after Steffan and Bouck both earned singles. The Bandits, cursed by the previous inning, followed the hits with three outs to come up short of any runs.

Canada was only able to put one more runner in play for the rest of the game. Patterson hit a shot right up the middle for her second hit of the game. Second baseman Liz Bouck dove to stop the ball, but Patterson had already made it to first. Bouck played an aggressive defense this game, diving for several shots.

Lanz gave up her final hit to designated player Collins in the sixth inning. Lanz finished the game with five strikeouts, one walk, and giving up six hits.

The Chicago-Canada series will continue Saturday night at 7pm. Jack FM will be present along with the Frisbee Dogs performing. For more information call 1-877-7BANDIT visit the Official Website of the Chicago Bandits at www.ChicagoBandits.com.
