Clark Drives In Winning Runs With Homerun

Lisle, Ill. – Fans did not leave disappointed this game as the excitement carried over from the previous night’s game. The Chicago Bandits picked up the victory over the New England Riptide, 2-1 with another homerun from Jaime Clark.

Leigh Ann Ellis started the game off in the circle for the New England Riptide. Ellis is not a stranger to Chicago. During the school year she is the pitching coach for the University of Illinois-Chicago. Ellis finished up the game with 4 strikeouts while giving up 7 hits.

Although, they were not homeruns like the last night’s game, the back-to-back duo of Clark and Jennie Finch provided two singles to start off the game. Clark made her way to third on Finch’s hit, but was left stranded.

Lisa Iancin had her first hit of two in the second inning. She took second off of Stephanie Best’s single, but was caught stealing on a pitch.

Lindsay Chouinard 8-1, started digging herself into a hole by walking the first batter and hitting the second with a pitch. Lyndsey Angus hit the ball right into short centerfield just tipping off of Clark’s glove. With bases loaded and no outs, the Riptide were able to a run on the board when Jess Merchant hit a single, 1-0.

Protests were present again this series in the bottom of the third inning. Vicky Galindo hit a single to right field and tried to round to second, first baseman Kellie Wilkerson was in her way. On the throw to second, Galindo would have been out but officials called player interference and gave her the base.

Clark jacked another homerun this weekend over the outfield fence in dead center and brought the Bandits ahead, 2-1. The homerun is Clark’s 7th of the season and her second this weekend. Her homerun last night paired with Finch’s homerun back-to-back in the 6th inning won a Bandit fan $5,000 as part of a promotion.

A double to deep left field from Riptide Iancin in the fourth prompted Bandits coaches to bring in Lauren Bay. In the circle Bay closed the inning with two strikeouts after Best flew out to rightfield.

In the fifth inning Bay tallied two more strikeouts, but New England coach Sharon Drysdale was not satisfied with one of the calls. It was a called third strike to end the inning and as the two teams switched sides, Drysdale gave the home plate umpire her piece of mind before he ejected her from the game.

After this game, Bay is just behind the league leader with 15 wins. Christa Williams of the Texas Thunder is leading with 16. Bay closed up the game with 6 strikeouts and 4 hits.

Kid’s Day will be celebrated at Sunday’s noon game. All children will receive half-priced admission and a limited number will receive Akedema Mini Signature Gloves. For more information, visit the official website at
