Force Add Temple University Graduate

The Philadelphia Force of National Pro Fastpitch has announced the signing of New Bedford, Massachusetts native and 2005 Temple University graduate, Lynsey Grace. Grace has just finished playing professionally for the Harlem Diamonds in 2005 and will be entering the NPF as a rookie in 2006 with the Force.

Grace is very excited about her return to Philadelphia after spending four years at Temple University. In her senior year, Grace was an All Atlantic-10 selection after leading her team to the A-10 Championship and their first ever trip to the NCAA Regionals. The outfielder finished her senior year batting .331 with nine 2B, five HR, and 26 RBI. Of her return she states, “It feels great to be back in the city of Brotherly Love, this time playing professional softball. Philadelphia is my favorite city because of its rich culture; it depicts the beautiful artwork of life through its diversity. What I love the most about this city is the food and people. Philadelphia fans are known for being true and showing a great deal of support for their professional teams. I envision a great fan base for the Philadelphia Force.”

Force Player Personnel Director and ex-Temple coach, Terri Adams, is thrilled with the signing of her former athlete, Grace. "We are excited about the recent signing of Lynsey Grace to our organization. She brings experience from her travels with the Harlem Diamonds last summer. Her personality has made her a clinic favorite already in the off-season. I can't wait to coach Lynsey again and I am looking forward to seeing her produce on the field this summer.”

To play for Coach Terri Adams at the professional level is a dream come true. She has displayed compassion and love for the game of softball, which I know will go a long way for the Force franchise. Her coaching skills and game strategy will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the coaching staff. Coach Terri has had such an amazing impact on my level of play; she has pulled out my full potential as an athlete and I am looking forward to many more years playing under her on the Force.”

Grace’s situation has been less than ordinary. Owner Bill Thompson offered Grace a contract at a recent Force clinic at Penn Ridge High School on October 21st. Grace offered former coach Adams an extra hand at the clinic. Following the clinic, Thompson publicly proposed a playing contract with the Force to Grace. “Getting offered a professional contract in front of 200 softball players and their parents was a blessing in disguise. All in one moment I was thankful, excited, surprised, overwhelmed and happy.”

The Force will begin their season in June 2006 and are slated to play 48 games. The team has announced Patriots Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania as their home stadium for their inaugural season. Grace and her teammates will be participating in the Force Holiday Clinic Series December 16-18th. For more information please visit www.philadelphiaforce.com
