Force Beat Bandits, End Winning Streak

Game Box Score

Lisle, Ill. – After dodging rain drops for two days straight, it was nice to have a sunny day for the final game of the series between the Philadelphia Force and the Chicago Bandits.

Gina Oaks, with a record of 4-1, took the mound for the Bandits this afternoon.

The Force jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off a homerun bomb by Jenna Hall in the top of the first inning.

Natasha Watley led off the top of the third inning with a triple and would end up scoring off a sacrifice fly by Carri Leto. Chelsea Spencer followed with a single to left and eventually stole second base. Amy Harre came in to relieve Oaks and took care of business. Harre struck out both batters she faced that inning including the dangerous Hall, who hit a homerun in her last at bat, to end the inning for the Bandits.

The Bandits started a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning with Stacy May taking a free ride to first base. Jaime Clark made it to first base on a fielders choice and stole second a play later. Selena Collins hit a shot to left allowing Clark to make a break for home. Clark was thrown out at home in a very close play, stopping the Bandits from scoring their first run of the game.

At the top of the sixth inning, the Bandits started to liven things up on defense. Ryan Realmuto hit an apparent single to center but was gunned out by an amazing throw from the center fielder, Amanda Williams. The Bandits carried that momentum right into their offense. Vicki Galindo showed patience at the plate with a walk. Anne Steffan laid down the sacrifice bunt and made it safely to first due to a wild throw from the Force pitcher, which also advanced Galindo to third. Stacy May hit a groundball to third, which scored Galindo and Steffan advanced to third with her heads up base running. Clark stepped into the box and ripped a single into left bringing Steffan home. This notched Clark’s 26th RBI of the season, breaking her record from last season and giving her the title of the Bandit’s All-Time RBI leader. After scoring two runs, the Bandits were unable to generate anymore as they headed into the seventh.

The Bandits tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning but came up short. The 6-2 loss was only their fourth loss of the season and it snapped their 16 game win streak. The Bandits will be taking on the USA World Team in the next four game homestand beginning on Thursday, July 27th at 7:05 pm.
