FORCE STUNNED BY CHINESE OFFENSE

Game Box Score

Allentown, Pennsylvania - China's offense exploded in game two of the series, defeating the Philadelphia Force for the second consecutive night by a score of 8-2. Both teams went through three pitchers, as Lan Wang recorded the win for China and Jen Stewart suffered the loss for
Philadelphia. With the loss, the Force drop to 3-7 on the season, last place in the National Pro Fastpitch league. Philadelphia managed six hits and left nine runners on base. Candice Freel saw her second appearance of the year, collecting three strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched, shutting out the Chinese in the final two innings.

Throwing errors and timely China hits plagued the Force defense again tonight, as both Natasha Watley and Stewart threw balls away in the first inning, and China collected three hits including a triple, to give the 2008 Olympic Host the early 3-0 lead.

Carri Leto singled to left centerfield to get things started for the Force. Watley slapped a ball up the middle to put runners on first and second for the clean-up hitter, Jenna Hall. Hall registered an RBI single, the first run in the series for the Force. With runners on first and third, Force RBI leader Jaime Dacey slapped a ball to the shortstop, scoring Watley and putting the Force within one run of China. Chelsea Spencer flew out to right field to end the inning 3-2 with the Force trailing China.

With two outs in the top of the third, China extended their lead when Xin Jiang hit an RBI triple, scoring Minhong Xin who reached first on a walk. After four runs and five hits in 2.2 innings, Stewart was relieved by Chambersburg native, Stephanie VanBrakle. Zhang Ai hit a single to score Xin before VanBrakle retired Shao Jing with a ground ball, putting the Chinese ahead by three (5-2).

Ai Zhang added to the Chinese lead in the top of the sixth inning with an RBI triple. Pinch hitter Yi Lu followed with an RBI single and Yanhong Yu hit an RBI double for China's final two runs on the evening, before VanBrakle was relieved by Freel.

The Force will look for their first win against China tomorrow night at ECTB
Stadium at Bicentennial Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
