Game Box Score

Lisle, Ill. – Coming off of their first loss since June 18th, the Chicago Bandits took on the USA World University Team this evening. Bandit Ace, Amy Harre, took the mound for the contest.

Team USA jumped on the Bandits early in the top of the first inning with a double from leadoff hitter, Norrelle Dickson. Dickson made it to third on a wild pitch and scampered home on a throwing error by third baseman, Stacy May.

Team USA scored two more runs in the top of the second inning. Callista Balko led off with a single to right. Courtney Bures laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Balko to second. Kaitlin Cochran drilled a double to center, scoring Balko. The Chicago Bandits had a counter attack in the bottom of the second inning led by Nicole Trimboli, who hit a single to left. Amanda Williams laid down a sacrifice bunt, advancing Trimboli to second base. The speedy Laura Harms laid down a bunt and beat out the throw to first; Trimboli made her way to third base on the play. Trena Peel drilled a groundball to second and made it safely to first due to a fielding error by second baseman, Kristie Fox.

In the top of the third inning, Samantha Findlay blasted a homerun over the leftfield fence, bringing her teammate Kristie Fox in and giving Team USA two more runs on the night. The Bandits kicked the offense up a notch in the bottom of the third starting with a triple to right by Trimboli. Amanda Williams followed with a single to left; Trimboli scored. Williams stole second due to a wild pitch. With a runner in scoring position, Krista Jessup stepped up to the plate and nailed a double into left. Amanda Williams trotted home representing the tying run for the Bandits.

Gina Oaks came into relieve Harre in the top of the fourth inning. The game wasn’t tied for long as Team USA brought in two more runs off of hits from Jackie Rinehart and Christina Clark. Peel led off the bottom of the fourth inning for the Bandits with a triple off the wall. May hit a blooper to third base and beat out the throw to first, allowing Peel enough time to slide in safely at home.

Trailing by one run heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Chicago Bandits couldn’t find enough momentum to come back from their one run deficit. This slugfest, ending in 10 hits for the Bandits and 12 hits for Team USA, gave the Bandits their fifth defeat of the season. The 6-5 loss brings the Bandit's record to 22-5 on the year.
