(New York, NY) The newest member of the Juggernaut, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, Natasha Watley, will be participating in grassroots community events on the weekend of April 9th & 10th in New Jersey. Natasha was the starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for the USA Softballs Dream Team who finished with a 9-0 record at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece as the team outscored its competition 51-1 en route to clinching its third consecutive Olympic gold medal. The former four-time first team All-American shortstop from UCLA, arguably the best leadoff hitter in the game, will be visiting various softball enthused towns to conduct basic skills clinics over the two days she will be in the Juggernaut market.
On April 9th, 2005 Natasha will be the guest of honor at Hanover Township Little Leagues Softball Opening Day Softball Celebration. Natasha will address the crowd at 11:00 a.m., throw out a first pitch to initiate season play and be on hand to take part in Hanover Township Little Leagues Opening Day festivities. From 12:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. Natasha will conduct a clinic for the Hanover Township girls along with her teammates, former LSU All-American and USA Elite Team member, Trena Peel and 2004 NPF All-Star and Juggernaut second baseman, Carri Leto.
Natasha and Trena will also be conducting a three hour basic skills clinic on April 10th presented by the Jersey Nightmare Fastpitch Organization at CB Lambs Field in Wrightstown, NJ. The clinic is open to all female athletes ages 9-18.
On Monday April 11th, 2005, Natasha will be honored as the Athlete of the Year at the Eleventh Annual Nassau County Sports Commission Awards Dinner.
The Juggernaut will be playing in New York on Long Island this summer. They are still in negotiations with various facilities and will announce a home field in the near future.
