Thunder Takes Game 3 Against Canada

By:
Texas Thunder decided to take a different approach to game three against
the Canadian National Team. The team still pulled out the victory with a
final score of 1-0, but Thunder plated the first run in the bottom of the
third instead of waiting until the seventh to pull out the dramatic win.
Behind a complete game shut out with only two hits and six strike outs
from starter Christa Williams (UT), Thunder not only took the series from
Canada, but they also claimed their fourth consecutive series win.

The only run of the game came in the bottom of the third as third baseman
Clare Burnum reached first on a walk. With one out, second baseman
Lindsay Gardner (UT) followed with a slow grounder between the pitcher and
first base. Gardner then hustled down the line to beat the throw and
managed to get caught in the run down between first and second base.
Without ever slowing down, Burnum sprinted home just in time to beat the
throw from second. Thunder closed out the inning with the one and only
run and that would be all they would need to hold off Canada.

Texas Thunder will take on Team Canada for game four, Sunday, July 24 at
1:00 p.m. to see if they can claim their fourth consecutive series sweep.
