July 23, 2005 - A four run outburst by the New York Juggernaut in the second inning with the score tied 1-1 broke the game open as they went on to best the New England Riptide 5-3. The Riptide scored their run in the first when Lisa Iancin singled and scored on Sarah Andersen's double to deep center. The Juggernaut got it back in the bottom of the inning on a throwing error by Jess Allister with two out that allowed Natasha Watley to score.
The Juggernaut rally began with one out with Chelsea Spenser's infield single. A walk and a hit batsman later, Watley popped to shortstop and Spenser managed to tag up and score on the short sacrifice fly. Singles by Carrie Leto and Jodie Cox completed the scoring. The Riptide put runners at second and third with one out in the fifth when Allister and Ashley Moore eached singled and were sacrificed over. An Ashley Courtney groundout scored Moore and that was all the Tide could muster. Their third run came in the seventh when Stephanie Best belted her third home run of the year.
Danielle Henderson, pitching her second game in three did not see strong defense behind her. Henderson, who pitched six innings allowing four earned runs while striking out four, drops to 7-8. Henderson has been doing double duty as of late, filling in for Jocelyn Forest and Leigh Ann Ellis who are out for the week competing for the US Elite team. The Riptide drop to 17-13. The two teams finish their four game series in New York today at 1:00. The Riptide are home next week for a four game series with the Akron Racers from Wednesday to Saturday. All games are at 7:05
